Jason Momoa was born in Hawaii but raised in Norwalk, Iowa, by his mother Coni Lemke, a photographer, and his father Joseph Momoa, a painter.
He is of mixed heritage: Native Hawaiian (his father’s side), German, Irish, and Native American (his mother’s side). Momoa returned to Hawaii in his late teens, where he was discovered by international designer Takeo Kobayashi.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023) continued his role.
