Hugh Bonneville

Hugh Richard Bonneville Williams was born on 10th November 1963, to a urologist father and a nurse mother in Paddington, London, England.

Early Life and Education

He attended Sherborne School, a prestigious independent school in Dorset. Studied theology at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. Trained for acting at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

➔ Television Breakthrough Early TV appearances: The Vet, Married for Life, Cadfael, The Commander. Gained widespread recognition with his role as Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham in Downton Abbey (2010–2015), which became an international hit. Returned for Downton Abbey movies (2019, 2022).
